Q: Why should I get a putter authenticated?
A: Having your putter authenticated and entered into the online registry gives your collection credibility whether you are buying, selling or using the authentication as reference. If you ever have a question about the pedigree of a putter, it is a good idea to have it authenticated.

Q: Who is authenticating the putters?
A: Scotty and a small staff conduct the authentication examination. The Studio staff averages no less than 7 years of service with Titleist or working for Scotty directly.

Q: How much does the service cost and what do I get in return?
A: The price of the service is $65. You receive a Certificate of Authenticity, pictured on our sample page, and each putter will be issued an identification number that is in our Registry database on scottycameron.com. If you are buying or selling a putter you can use the certificate in conjunction with the registry number to foster a smooth transaction.

Q: How do I submit my putter?
A: Locate the website submission form in the navigation and follow the prompts for information provided. Simply submit the order form and await a response from us including an order number and shipping instructions. The details of our process are explained in a link to our authentication home page.

Q: What is the Registry?
A: Each putter authenticated by the Putter Studio will be given a unique identification number that can be accessed on scottycameron.com. This will allow collectors to verify previously authenticated putters whether purchasing, selling or sharing a collection.

Q: What if I don’t want my putter in the Registry?
A: We reserve the right to publish the authentication number in our Registry, as well as the photos taken during the authentication process. We see a complete and accurate Registry as an important element in protecting collectors.

Q: The data is not displayed when I enter the registry number. What’s wrong?
A: If the number entered does not bring up any information about the putter, the number was either incorrectly entered or is not valid. All authentication numbers will match a certificate created at the time of authentication and generate basic information such as the model and any alterations that may have been noted as well as three photos. If you own a certificate with a registry number that does not appear in our database, please contact us by e-mail at customshop@acushnetgolf.com.

Q: How long will the service take?
A: Check the submission page for an update on our current turnaround time.

Q: Can I pay more to speed up the authentication process?
A: No. Priority is on a first-come first-served basis.

Q: Can I send my entire collection in at once for authentication?
A: Yes, but depending on the number of putters, we may schedule your order for an opportune time period to ensure the prompt return of your collection. Contact us by e-mail at customshop@acushnetgolf.com, if you plan to submit more than ten putters at once.

Q: Will the authentication process determine the value of my putter?
A: No, our purpose is not to set prices, but only to identify original Scotty Cameron designs and document alterations. Having your putter authenticated will enhance its resale value because buyers are ensured of its legitimacy.

Q: Can someone replicate the Certificate of Authenticity?
A: We have done what we can to prevent unauthorized certificates. It is possible, but elements such as the hologram, embossed stamp with the Cameron crown logo and the registry information make it very costly and involve trademark infringement risking legal consequences. If it isn’t in the Registry, it wasn’t viewed here at the Studio.

Q: How can I tell that a putter has been authenticated by the Putter Studio?
A: Every putter should be accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity period. If not, it will need to be resubmitted. A registry number alone should not be used to verify authentication.

Q: What if I want to replace a damaged or lost certificate?
A: We can replace a damaged certificate, but if the certificate is lost, the putter will need to be resubmitted. It would make it too easy to obtain documentation for counterfeit putters if we offered duplicate certificates.

Q: What if my putter is lost in transit?
A: We encourage collectors to insure their putters for an adequate sum and require it upon return. We will notify owners when we receive and ship their putters and provide tracking information for the return trip. Plain boxes are used to make the recognition of contents less likely.

Q: What if I want to get my putter restored at the same time?
A: The option of having both services done is available as an option in the Custom Shop. It is simply a matter of checking a box on the submission form indicating you would like to have the putter restored before it is authenticated.

Q: Can I track my putter once it is received by the Studio?
A: Yes, we will e-mail a FedEx tracking number to you once the putter has shipped. You can then enter the number at FedExTracking.com or click on the tracking link provided and follow the route of your package from our door to your own.

Q: Do I still have to pay the fee if my putter is deemed a counterfeit?
A: Yes. The service of authenticating a putter is the same whether it is original, altered or counterfeit. To learn more about counterfeit putters, click here.

Q: What happens if my putter is a counterfeit?
A: We will photograph the putter for reference and enclose a letter stating that the putter is indeed counterfeit. We have provided a link for you to relay any pertinent information about your counterfeit putter so we have a record of your purchase.

Q: Should I buy a putter that appears in the Registry, but does not have a Certificate of Authenticity?
A: The registry number could represent another putter in our database that is similar to the one being sold. The Registry alone does not guarantee the authenticity of the putter. We recommend that you purchase a putter with both a Certificate of Authenticity as well as a verified registry number.

Q: Will you authenticate pre-Titleist Scotty Cameron putters?
A: Yes, all Scotty Cameron putters can be authenticated, regardless of whether they were produced at the Putter Studio or in Scotty’s garage.

Q: Is there a discount for sending multiple putters?
A: No. We may schedule large putter collections to avoid delays, but multiple submissions do not eliminate the need to handle each putter individually.

Q: If my putter is lost in transit, can it be replaced?
A: No. Producing duplicates would compromise the value of original designs. We encourage owners to insure their putters for the full value and to ship their putters using a traceable courier, but can not offer a replacement putter in that many putters are produced in limited runs. Digital photos and an appraisal may help recover funds from the carrier insuring your putter.

Q: Should I get all of my Scotty Cameron putters authenticated, or just the ones that may be rare or limited?
A: If there is any question as to the source of your collection or if you wish to sell any of your putters in the future it would be wise to have them authenticated.
